Course overview
This course introduces students to the diverse fields of media and communication and to the variety of positions and types of employment on offer in these industries. It introduces students to the expectations of a range of professional media and communication specialisations within a variety of organisations, including strategic communication and public relations, social and digital media, content creation, immersive media, games design and production and screen production, and provides introductory career guidance and advice. Students will also explore the changing nature of professional media careers and the role of communication professionals in broader industry, government, not-for-profit and agency environments.

Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate understanding of the range of potential media and communication careers and environments
- Communicate and critically reflect on their identity as a future media and communication practitioner
- Demonstrate introductory understanding of the basics of career planning and positioning, including CV writing, networking and social media, and portfolio building understandings of visual and aesthetic media
