Course overview
This course will introduce key sociological, theoretical and structural perspectives on popular media with an emphasis on taste cultures, identity politics, participatory and convergence cultures, representation, affective capitalism, medium specificity and transmedia. Students are encouraged to analyse the complexities of popular media and its social and cultural function.
