Course overview

This course introduces students to core theory, concepts and techniques within cinematography and editing for film and television production. Students will explore the histories, genres and styles of cinematography and editing. Students will demonstrate their knowledge by shooting and editing a short film production.

Course learning outcomes

  • Apply key concepts in cinematography to produce storytelling images
  • Apply the principles of camera and lens movement and operation
  • Analyse and apply key concepts in real world dramatic lighting to deliver narrative-based film and television sequences
