Course overview

This introductory survey course introduces students to some of the major forms, genres, and periods of Anglophone literature in context. By closely studying several specimen texts the course will equip students with the basic skills necessary for advanced literary analysis. Fundamental theoretical, technical, and interpretive concepts will be packaged in lively classroom exercises and assessments to advance students’ understanding and appreciation of the tradition of literary expression in English.
