Course overview

This course introduces learners to questions and ways of thinking about human language, exploring concepts regarding the nature of language, including relationships between language and meaning, language and thought, and language and the embodied self. Through an inquiry-based approach, students will examine key theories in linguistics and develop basic skills in analysing language data from real-world contexts. By the end of this course, learners will have cultivated essential critical thinking and communication skills that will serve as a foundation for further studies in linguistics and applied linguistics.
