Course overview

The aim of the course is to provide an understanding of family law practice and to enable you, as an entry-level lawyer who practises in family law, to advise and take action in relation to parenting matters, spouse maintenance and child support problems, identify appropriate dispute-resolution processes for such matters in the light of the client's circumstances and concerns; and advise clients on pre-action procedures. The course is offered in partnership with South Australian practitioners and agencies.

Course learning outcomes

  • Identify dispute-resolution processes incorporating client concerns and circumstances.
  • Interpret and transmit knowledge of family law matters to a diverse audience.
  • Analyse a case study within a group.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem solving skills to family law issues.
