Course overview

This is an elective course that aims to provide students with advanced understanding of the law of succession in Australia. It examines the legal requirements of wills, intestacy, family provision and the administration of estates from practical, policy and theoretical perspectives. Effective written and interpersonal client interaction skills are essential to navigate this complex area of law and so assessment tasks will require students to undertake simulated activities to prepare them for the personal and professional challenges inherent in this field of practice.

  • Identify and synthesise scholarly literature and primary legal sources relevant to supporting the analysis and resolution of complex succession law scenarios
