Course overview

This course supports students to build their professional understandings and engagements by scaffolding their learning as they complete either an industry-based internship or an industry-focused project incorporating a portfolio and reflection. This WIL course will allow students to develop their career readiness through the WIL activities they undertake. As a course undertaken in the final semester of students’ degree program, it provides a valuable bridge between university study and professional practice.

Course learning outcomes

  • Gain professional experience through an internship, project or other WIL experience in an industry relevant to their program.
  • Articulate and plan towards career goals, contextualising steps towards these within the professional experience activity.
  • Demonstrate understandings of professionalism as it pertains to the discipline, and of connections between academic learning and professional practice.
  • Develop skills in preparing a professional-standard resume and portfolio
  • Demonstrate application of networking skills in professionally focused settings.
