Course overview
This course develops students’ skills in television/video presentation of news, news bulletins and current affairs. It builds on earlier audio and video journalism courses to support students to develop specialised understanding of technical and conceptual elements of television reporting and video journalism. This course also fosters collaboration and teamwork, as well as individual reporting. It offers an understanding of the societal and public, commercial, community and individual broadcasting contexts within which TV/video journalists work, and aims to produce reflective journalist whose work expresses the values of independent, inclusive and diverse public interest journalism.

Course learning outcomes
- Understand the newsworthiness of story ideas based on journalistic news values across public, commercial, community and other contexts within TV and Video journalism
- Apply critically reflexive understanding of television and cross-platform professional practice in local and international settings
- Apply advanced research and writing techniques for television news/current affairs and cross-platform video journalism
- Demonstrate advanced capabilities of filming and editing using industry-standard equipment and software
- Identify and comply with key legal and ethical obligations associated with television and video journalism
