Course overview

Statistical and Fourier techniques, with applications to experimental design and data analysis.

Course learning outcomes

  • Provide an understanding of how Fourier techniques can be used to solve problems in physics.
  • Demonstrate how the Fourier transform and the related Wavelet transform provides an understanding of physical phenomena and links together many different fields
  • Develop an understanding of frequentist and Bayesian statistical inference, and how to apply them to both parameter inference and model selection as they arise in the physical sciences

Prerequisite(s)

  • must have completed MATHX300 Advanced Differential Equations
