Course overview

This course will introduce the concepts of advocacy, marketing, and social media marketing for information management in libraries, archives, and records management. Course content will include advocacy, marketing management, target markets, marketing mix, brand marketing, marketing plans and policies. The course will also include social media marketing for GLAMR organisations, which will cover an introduction to social media marketing, social consumers, digital communities, social influencers, user experience, user-centred design, and ethics of social media.

Course learning outcomes

  • Apply social media market models to libraries, archives, and records management organisations.
  • Create campaigns for marketing and social media marketing.
  • Compare and contrast social media marketing campaigns in GLAMR organisations.
  • Evaluate and examine zones of social media and apply them to GLAMR organisations.
  • Analyse marketing and social media marketing programs.
  • Analyse, explain and adapt social media tools for a particular GLAMR organisation.
  • Analyse and evaluate advocacy campaigns and programs of libraries, archives, and records management world wide.
