Course overview
This course introduces contemporary project management principles and their application in professional information environments. Students undertake a capstone project in a library, archive, records management service, gallery, museum, or related organisation, working either individually or as part of a project team with an industry partner.
Over six weeks of lectures, the course examines project management contexts and processes; the role of the project manager; project integration, scope, time, cost, quality and resource management; risk and quality management; change management; managing the project life cycle; project management techniques and procedures; and approaches to benchmarking and evaluating project success or failure.
Course learning outcomes
- Generate and evaluate detailed project planning and reflection documents.
- Create, assess, and evaluate a range of documents and artefacts to undertake a project.
- Organise and contribute to different phases of a project incorporating appropriate quality management strategies in all aspects of project management.
- Efficiently and effectively execute a project either individually or in a team.
- Generate and produce deliverables for the client.
- Design and construct a poster for conveying an aspect of the project.
