Course overview

This course aims to apply the theory and practice of using design patterns to facilitate the efficient creation of quality software. Building upon previous software development practice work, students will learn will examine different patterns and learn how they can match software requirements to possible applicable patterns. Students will develop skills in a new programming language as part of implementing design patterns.

  • Explain design patterns and their use in software development
  • Select the appropriate design pattern and implement an advanced software solution
  • Model, implement, test and debug maintainable object oriented computer programs
  • Explain the relationship between design pattern choice and memory usage and management
