Course overview
This course aims to develop student capability in extracting meaning from complex unstructured data. In this course students develop skills in extracting meaning from large unstructured data sets – including data wrangling, data integration and fragmentation, unstructured databases: noSQL, document DBs, and techniques for presenting information such as visualisation.

Course learning outcomes
- Recommend ways to improve current processes and decision making for a given organisation using types and sources of unstructured data.
- Determine the use of non-relational database architecture by considering common data storage architectures.
- Propose solutions for a business problem by evaluating data technologies and tools.
- Appraise the role of legal and ethical requirements in acquiring and handling unstructured data.
- Apply analytic techniques to unstructured data sets.
- Present data exploration and results of unstructured data analysis through data visualisation.
