Course overview

The aim of this course is to provide a detailed overview of cloud concepts, AWS core services, security, architecture, pricing and support, and how these can be used by an organisation to support their IT infrastructure. The aim of this course is topics covered in this course include: overview of cloud concepts, cloud models IaaS, PaaS, SaaS; introduction to AWS, AWS Global Infrastructure; Cloud Security: Identity and Access Management (IAM), Security Policy; Networking: Virtual private clouds (VPC) vs public clouds; architectural principles of cloud computing; Core Cloud Services: EC2, Lambda, S3; and other cloud service offerings from Azure and Google Cloud.

Course learning outcomes

  • Describe the different types of cloud computing models.
  • Compare the benefits of cloud computing with traditional on-premises.
  • Identify the most appropriate cloud-base service to meet a specific need.
  • Apply a range cloud-based services including security, networking, compute, and storage.
  • Construct a working cloud IT infrastructure based on an existing on-premise design.
