Course overview

This course introduces students to real-world cyber security challenges faced by organisations. Students will apply cyber and computing knowledge and skills gained in previous courses to address these challenges in complex situations, producing advanced solutions. By merging theoretical understanding with practical application, students develop advanced strategies to mitigate cyber threats, safeguard sensitive information, and fortify organisational resilience in the face of evolving cyber risks.

Course learning outcomes

  • Apply advanced computer and operating systems, data structures and algorithms, and cyber security knowledge to solve real life cyber security challenges
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of various proposed solutions using quantitative and qualitative measures
  • Analyse real world applications and identify cyber security risks and challenges
  • Communicate the ethical and cultural challenges related to applied cyber security solutions
