Course overview

This course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and implement IT infrastructures using cloud technologies, with a focus on Amazon Web Services (AWS). By exploring cloud concepts, core services and security measures students will be prepared to evaluate, select, and implement cloud-based solutions that align with organisational requirements.

Course learning outcomes

  • Describe the different types of cloud computing models and their applications
  • Compare the advantages of cloud computing over traditional on-premises infrastructure
  • Compare cloud service offerings from major providers and identify the most appropriate service to meet a specific need
  • Apply core cloud services to develop and manage a functional cloud-based IT infrastructure, based on an existing on-premise design
  • Analyse and develop a comprehensive cloud security strategy utilising virtual private cloud technologies
