Course overview

This course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and implement IT infrastructures using cloud technologies, with a focus on Amazon Web Services (AWS). By exploring cloud concepts, core services and security measures, students will be prepared to evaluate, select, and implement cloud-based solutions that align with organisational requirements.

Course learning outcomes

  • Describe different types of cloud computing models and their applications
  • Compare cloud computing and traditional on-premises infrastructure
  • Evaluate and select cloud service offerings from major providers to meet specific organisational needs
  • Apply core cloud services to develop and manage a functional cloud-based IT infrastructure based on an existing on-premises design
  • Apply Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) technologies to design and explain a secure cloud infrastructure
  • Justify a cost-optimised and scalable architecture based on a real-world case
