Course overview

This course will develop students skills to participate in a research project. Content includes: Introduction to research; Literature search and review; Research organisation (select topic, formulate research question, design research project, critical results evaluation and summary); Bibliometrics; Research methodologies (qualitative and quantitative); Experimental design; Data analysis; Research ethics.

Course learning outcomes

  • Understand and apply research concepts
  • Search and critically review literature relevant to the given research topic
  • Select and apply an appropriate research methodology to a problem
  • Use experimental design methodologies to select the data and analysis techniques for a project
  • Incorporate ethical principles and processes to the design of a research project
