Course overview

This course will give the students the skills to build graphic assets for 2D and 3D environments. Topics include: Introduction to Asset Creation; Game Development Pipelines; Introduction to Maya; Basic modelling techniques; UV Unwrapping; Texture baking; Texturing; Physical based rendering; UE4; Pro production; Props; Environment art; Modular sets; Portfolios; Show reels; Employment in the media industries.

Course learning outcomes

  • Generate a 3D model that is usable within game development environments.
  • Generate assets that have high quality finish.
  • Use advanced techniques to improve the realism of 2D and 3D models.
  • Create ambient game sounds to improve the atmosphere of games.
