Course overview

The aim of this course is to develop an understanding of core information technology concepts. The aim of this course is topics covered in this course include: history of computing, computer and operating system concepts, cloud concepts, and IT Business Context.

Course learning outcomes

  • Discuss IT concepts using appropriate terminology, including history, and current and future trends in IT.
  • Describe the major components of a computer and an operating system.
  • Apply web programming language concepts.
  • Use productivity applications relating to word processors, spreadsheets & presentations.
  • Describe IT business requirements using UML.
  • Explain how ethics, privacy & governance impacts information technology.
