Course overview

This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the rapidly evolving cyber security landscape, preparing them to anticipate, analyse and respond to emerging cyber threats. Students will explore cutting-edge security technologies, case studies of recent cyber attacks and the development of innovative risk assessment and mitigation strategies for pivotal topics including the Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, generative AI, and more. With a dynamic curriculum that adapts to the ever-changing landscape of cyber security, students will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate and manage the complex and ever-changing world of cyber security.

Course learning outcomes

  • Describe the variety of system architectures, essential components and challenges specific to emerging technologies in cyber security
  • Evaluate the potential impact of emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities on individuals, organisations, and society
  • Apply theoretical concepts and practical techniques to address challenges posed by new cyber security paradigms
  • Communicate complex ideas related to emerging topics in cyber security effectively
