Course overview
This course aims to orient students to the basics of Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara language and culture, including pronunciation, grammar foundations, and strategies for relationship building and language learning in an Anangu community context. The course will equip students with the tools to continue their language learning journey in Anangu communities and provide a cultural and historical context to these languages.
Course learning outcomes
- Understand the interrelationship and significance of languages, cultures and country for Anangu peoples
- Engage with rudimentary knowledge of Anangu histories and cultures
- Develop beginning language skills and basic grammar in Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara and understand protocols for language use
