Course overview

The aim of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to extend their understanding of research and academic debates in their chosen field of research, and knowledge and understanding in Aboriginal Studies with a focus on Aboriginal and The aim of this course is torres Strait Islander issues in Australia and Indigenous rights from a global perspective. The course enables students to identity the relevant literature and develop literature search strategies and critically review publications. Students will review and critique research data and identity and review the major theoretical issues relevant to a research area within Aboriginal Studies. Students will contrast theoretical approaches to research for Aboriginal Studies in Australia and Indigenous Studies from a Global perspective.

  • Demonstrate a deeper theoretical understanding in a specific discipline within Aboriginal Studies
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of and independence in the research process in Aboriginal Studies
  • Review publications on a specific area of research and demonstrate skills in critical review of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research and Indigenous research internationally.
