Course overview
To further develop students' knowledge of and skills in contemporary Indigenous writing, performance and cinema, within the discourses of Indigenous Knowledge and social theory.
Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate familiarity with a wide range of Aboriginal-authored artistic and biographical texts, as well as Aboriginal-authored criticism.
- Identify central themes, issues, styles and forms within the genre on an Australia-wide basis.
- Make comparisons with other literary and historical representations of Aboriginal life.
- Analyse the texts within a range of contemporary theory relating to historiography, representation, construction of identity, and postcolonial literature.
