To critically examine Australian government policies in relation to nationalism, cultural identity and the politics of representation.

Course learning outcomes

  • Demonstrate a theoretical understanding of government policy on issues such as refugees and immigration in contemporary Australia.
  • Critically engage with issues associated with citizenship, human rights, and media discourse through a close analysis of contemporary social issues.
  • Examine specific areas of government policy and issues such as refugees and racism, or education and multiculturalism
