Course overview
This course aims to develop learners’ knowledge and skills in the design, conduct, interpretation and reporting of biomechanical analyses using state-of-the-art techniques for measuring and analysing human movement. This course expands upon foundational biomechanical concepts to explore applications in pushing the boundaries of sporting performance, technique modification, and reduction in injury risk. Learners will be guided to develop skills in translating the findings of biomechanical analyses into actionable insights for relevant stakeholders, such as coaches, athletes and other sport and exercise science professionals. This course aligns with the program’s intent of developing comprehensive knowledge, analytical and research skills to design, execute and ommunicate findings from exercise-based interventions across different sub-disciplines of exercise science.
Course learning outcomes
- Contextualise biomechanical concepts in sport and exercise for improving technical proficiency, performance, or decreasing the risk of injury.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the equipment and methods required for conducting biomechanical analyses.
- Collaboratively design and execute a project using biomechanical methods.
- Communicate and apply the results of biomechanical analyses, including translating the findings into actionable insights for relevant stakeholders such as coaches, athletes or other sport and exercise science professionals.
