Course overview
This course develops students advanced knowledge and skills of the theory and practice of contemporary strategic human resource management (SHRM). Many organisations undergo constant change , many of which require the adoption of new work practices and new approaches to decision-making and performance management. In many of these organisations, HR people have been leaders in identifying the organisation's particular challenges and in finding and implementing solutions. This course delves into the important links between HRM functions and the organisations overarching strategic goals and objectives. Students are assessed through an essay as well as a presentation and report.
Course learning outcomes
- Critically examine and analyse the evolution, practice and theoretical interpretations of Strategic HRM with readings and seminar activities around the topics by completing the core requirements of this CLO in an essay as well as a presentation and report
- Analyse and apply recent innovations in strategic HRM theory and practice with readings and seminar activities around the topics by completing the core requirements of this CLO in an essay as well as a presentation and report

- Understand the ethical and international dimensions of the practice of strategic HRM, and integrate this awareness into the practice of strategic HRM, with readings and seminar activities around the topics by completing the core requirements of this CLO in an essay as well as a presentation and report
- Demonstrate skills in working independently and autonomously on projects with readings and seminar activities around the topics by completing the core requirements of this CLO in an essay as well as a presentation and report
