Course overview
This course deepens students’ understanding of the links with social and cultural diversity and its impact on organisations, strategic people management, managing change and performance. This course takes an overarching look at the people management system of an organisation. It introduces students to some key concepts in human resource management and organisational behaviour. It also provides students an opportunity to critically analyse popular people management techniques. Finally, students will get an opportunity to evaluate real world situations involving people in organisations and develop realistic solutions. Students are assessed through a report, debate and problem solving exercise.

Course learning outcomes
- Assess the alignment of an organisation’s strategy to their human resource strategy, structure and human resource system design to ensure organisational performance and growth
- Investigate strategic human resource challenges and develop solutions using an evidence-based approach
- Evaluate the design of human resource management system of an organisation taking dynamic changes in the internal organisational context and external operating environment into consideration
- Critically reflect on ethical and social justice issues associated with human resource management activities and recommend solutions taking the rights and the interests of different stakeholders into consideration
- Demonstrate skills in problem solving, written and oral communication, and the ability to apply an international perspective to inform stakeholders and implement change
