Course overview
This course aims to provide a preliminary introduction to the use of analytics in the context of human resource management in organisations. The use of analytics-based tools for identifying commonly encountered HR issues and basic statistical analyses to evaluate information are introduced along with ethical issues and future trends associated with HR analytics. HR Analytics approaches are increasingly significant in the current business context, and being data savvy is an important skillset for todays HR professionals. This course also highlights the ethical aspects of HR Analytics. Students are assessed through case study and data analysis.
Course learning outcomes
- Examine and evaluate the role of analytics in the context of Human Resource Management in organisations with readings and class activities around the topics by completing the core requirements of this CLO in a case study and data analysis
- Apply analytics-based tools for analysing HR data with readings and class activities around the topics by completing the core requirements of this CLO in a case study and data analysis
- Analyse and evaluate basic statistical tools for identifying common HR issues encountered in organisations with readings and class activities around the topics by completing the core requirements of this CLO in a case study and data analysis
- Design processes to create awareness of ethical considerations associated with data analytics related to people with readings and class activities around the topics by completing the core requirements of this CLO in a case study and data analysis
- Demonstrate skills in problem solving and ethical awareness with readings and class activities around the topics by completing the core requirements of this CLO in a case study and data analysis
