Course overview

This course covers two important organisational human resource management activities: performance management and compensation management. Students will learn how organisations develop effective performance management and compensation management systems to achieve organisational goals. This course overviews the techniques organisations use when managing employee performance and compensation. It particularly emphasises on acquisition knowledge and skills necessary for designing performance and compensation management systems. It also addresses recent theory and research relevant to performance and compensation management decisions.

Course learning outcomes

  • Apply the current state of performance and compensation management decision making
  • Apply recent theory and research to inform performance and compensation management decisions
  • Develop knowledge and skill in making performance and compensation management decisions
  • Critically analyse organisational performance and compensation management systems and effectively communicate recommendations for improvement. Work collaboratively with colleagues when undertaking these activities.
  • Demonstrate Business Enterprise Skills in the context of the Human Resource Management discipline: i) Problem Solving (intermediate level); and ii) Written Communication (intermediate level).
