Course overview
This course delves into the intricacies of the tourism industry, emphasising the vital role played by wineries and wine regions in shaping a destination's growth and its capacity to allure visitors. Students will examine worldwide best practices in the development of wine and food tourism, exploring the collaborative efforts of diverse stakeholders across the entire tourism distribution supply chain. From vineyards to culinary experiences, this course unveils the synergy between wine and gastronomy in crafting enticing destinations for travellers in order for students to better design, develop and market the wine and food tourism product.
Course learning outcomes
- Outline and analyse wine and food tourism organisations, policies and planning
- Define and critique factors explaining the development of wine and food tourism in different countries
- Identify behaviours and motivations of wine and food tourists according to their origin, culture and experience
- Explain and critique wine and food tourism distribution issues and strategies
- Develop a wine or food tourism marketing campaign to improve destination attractiveness
