This course aims to understand and utilise a conceptual framework to examine the role of festivals and events in contemporary society.

Course learning outcomes

  • Demonstrate technical knowledge of festival and event management by critically and creatively assessing festival and event design.
  • Apply theories of behaviour associated with festivals and events to critically analyse and reflect on audience engagement and participation.
  • Examine and interpret the ethical, social, and sustainability impacts of festivals and events, and provide actionable solutions.
  • Investigate and analyse the relationship between festivals and events and their role in shaping stakeholder identities.
  • Critically analyse professional practice in festival and event management, considering cultural and global dimensions.
