Course overview

The aim of this course is to enable students to undertake research with industry partners to find solutions to real-world challenges in the tourism, events and hospitality industry. Planning and executing the research project and reporting the findings will be undertaken in this course. Students will have the opportunity to develop research methods, data analysis and research tool design skills and reflect on the knowledge gained throughout their studies in this capstone course.

  • Assess challenges experienced by businesses within the tourism, events and hospitality industry.
  • Design a research proposal for problem solving in the tourism, events and hospitality industry.
  • Explain diverse research methods and problem solving frameworks.
  • Propose evidence-based strategies for business growth and sustainability.
  • Demonstrate Business Enterprise Skills in the context of the Tourism, Event and Hospitality Management discipline: i) Problem Solving (advanced level); ii) Ethical Awareness (intermediate level); iii) Written Communication (advanced level); iv) Oral Communication (advanced level); and v) International Perspective (advanced level).
