Course overview

This course serves as an introduction to the digital transformation of the tourism, events and hospitality industry and establishes a solid foundation in this fast-evolving context. It enables students to critically reflect on contemporary strategies and concepts that currently shape the digitalisation of tourism, events and hospitality organisations. Designed to enhance technical skills and promote critical thinking and analysis, the course provides students with an understanding of the importance and application of digital marketing in general, and social media in particular. It equips students with innovative digital and communication skills for the tourism, events and hospitality sector.

  • Develop a critical appreciation of the nature, role and importance of digital technologies drawing on diverse perspectives
  • Critically investigate contemporary strategies, concepts and ideas related to technologies in tourism, events and hospitality
  • Critically evaluate the impact of digital technologies on travellers’ behaviour
