Course overview
Students will refine and extend competence in scholarly inquiry, literature critique and analysis, and formulation of research questions and hypotheses with consideration of ethical principles. Identify a topic for independent research investigation in a health discipline, critical review of literature, formulate a research question and/or hypothesis, develop methodology, consider ethical implications of planned study.
Course learning outcomes
- Identify and refine a research question and/or problem that has relevance to their health discipline.
- Justify an appropriate research design to investigate the identified research question/problem.
- Situate the research question within a body of literature and present this as a succinct literature review.
- Using an appropriate research design, develop a feasible research proposal to answer the identified research question
- Identify the ethical implications of the proposed research and develop a justification for the potential benefits and risks of the research
