The aim of this course is to develop and enhance student understanding and skills relating to the development of strategy as it relates to the organisation and also beyond the organisation, and the role of strategy in planning and change in health and aged care sector organisations

Course learning outcomes
- Analyse the roles and importance of strategy in the Australian health and aged care sectors for public and private, including not for profit, organisations
- Recognise, critique and apply theory and logic models in the design and evaluation of health and aged care settings
- Demonstrate knowledge of and critically appraise the process and tools, including evidence-informed approaches, that can be used for developing strategic responses to significant issues and creating strategic plans in the health and aged care organisations
- Identify the role of leadership and communication in managing strategy
- Determine the role of clinical governance in the development and management of strategy
- Demonstrate knowledge of barriers affecting the implementation of strategic plans and identify potential solutions to overcome the barriers
- Demonstrate knowledge of how strategic plans can be monitored and evaluated
