Course overview
The aim of this course is to provide students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge to a professional practice area and demonstrate relevant competencies by engaging with a contemporary real-world or simulated project. Undertake a student-led, real-world project utilising relevant research methodologies and skills under the supervision of an academic staff member, which may involve collaboration with a community or industry partner. Projects will address key competency areas in a health services management context, including: leadership, health and healthcare environment, business skills, communications and relationship management, and professional and social responsibility.
Course learning outcomes
- Synthesise and apply knowledge of health services management in a real-world context to produce high quality project deliverables, including a project proposal, written analysis, report/s and presentation/s.
- Demonstrate high-level collaboration and communication with key stakeholders to deliver an agreed project outcome.
- Apply project management processes across all phases of the project lifecycle to effectively plan, manage, execute and deliver the project plan to completion.
- Demonstrate professional and ethical attitudes and behaviours, including a commitment to safe and socially accountable professional practice.
- Utilise expert judgement and critical thinking skills to display preparedness for professional practice.
