Course overview

In this course, students will undertake the research project developed in Allied Health Research Project Planning. Students will develop experience with project planning, ethics requirements, potential participant recruitment and obtaining informed consent, the collection and analysis of data, interpretation of the results and dissemination of findings through preparation of a journal-ready manuscript and oral presentation. Students will work closely with an experienced researcher who will supervise progress and provide advice throughout project. Upon successful completion of the course, students will have demonstrated an ability to work relatively independently to undertake a research project suitable for publication and presentation.

Course learning outcomes

  • Apply advanced knowledge and skills, with some independence, to design and execute a substantial research-based project using appropriate tools and methods.
  • Synthesise research findings and communicate theoretical propositions, methodologies and conclusions to professional audiences in both written and oral formats.
  • Apply initiative and judgement to adapt advanced discipline knowledge in diverse settings.
  • Conduct research integrating principles of academic integrity, ethical conduct and peer review.
