Course overview
This course includes advanced application of pathophysiological bases, assessment procedures and health management approaches to target pathologies for an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP). Pathophysiology and pathology, surgical and medical procedures, natural history, alleviating and aggravating factors, medical, surgical and allied health interventions for chronic disease management of AEP target pathologies. Development of clinical reasoning and knowledge synthesis skills through problem based learning.
Course learning outcomes
- Explain the pathophysiological basis and diagnostic procedures of Accredited Exercise Physiologist target pathologies.
- Discuss stages of disease, risk factors and complications of Accredited Exercise Physiologist target pathologies.
- Differentiate common surgical, medical and allied health treatments for Accredited Exercise Physiologist target pathologies.
- Explain mode of action, indications, and effects of medications commonly prescribed for Accredited Exercise Physiologist target pathologies.
- Access and appraise information on health conditions and their management to inform clinical decision making.
