Course overview

This course provides students with the opportunity to combine workplace experience with academic study through a Semester-long research placement related to Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART). Students will learn a full range of methodologies that are standard in an IVF clinic, including gamete purification and embryo manipulations.

Course learning outcomes

  • Critically evaluate and synthesise relevant evidence from multiple sources.
  • Demonstrate research and practical competencies aligned with the research placement.
  • Plan and conduct experimental activities in the context of a research placement.
  • Analyse and interpret project results correctly and in context.
  • Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrate professional behaviour and work effectively in teams within a research group setting.
  • Demonstrate awareness of ethical and cultural issues that arise in health science research and practice.
