Course overview
The aim of this course is to provide the context and assessment of professional practice skills of an exercise science graduate to operate safely and in an ethically responsible manner. On completion of this course students will demonstrate professional practice standards of an exercise science professional in a site specific context, including application of a broad range of knowledge and skills, and describe areas of professional, practical and knowledge development for other contexts.
Course learning outcomes
- Apply exercise science knowledge and skills in a professional context that is consistent with the ESSA Code of Professional Conduct and Ethical Practice.
- Demonstrate and reflect on effective practice to achieve client goals through integration and application of exercise science knowledge and skills in a professional context.
- Demonstrate effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills of an exercise science professional.
- Apply the scope of practice for an exercise scientist, and describe the scope of practice of a sports scientist and an exercise physiologist.
- Describe and assess risks associated with the professional practice of exercise science and apply strategies to manage these risks.
