Course overview
The aim of this course is to learn how to conceptualise and write a research or industry project plan that considers the integration of the sub-disciplines of exercise and sport science. Writing coherent, investigable questions for either research or project; Ethical considerations of research or project work; Presentation skills; Peer review and feedback skills; Project and research designs; Research finding interpretation; Study scope and limitations; Evaluation of research/project designs; Using literature data bases; Endnote citation software; Academic writing; Sub-disciplines of exercise and sports science; Project resourcing; Qualitative and quantitative research methodology.
Course learning outcomes
- Apply advanced exercise science knowledge and skills to develop a viable project, which has the capacity to meet needs of the end-user.
- Apply project conceptualisation and management skills, which will require consultation with relevant stakeholders, to develop achievable aims and outcomes, and task scheduling.
- Demonstrate an advanced capacity to critically analyse and synthesise information and communicate this in written form to suit the needs of stakeholders.
- Demonstrate professional and persuasive verbal presentation skills.
- Develop skills in judgement and supportive critical feedback of peers' work.
