Course overview

In this course, students will undertake an experiential placement in a public health and wellbeing practice role within the health system or other systems which seek to promote or support health and wellbeing. This includes critical self-assessment and reflection on professional strengths and personal skills; core principles of public health practice; cultural safety within health and wellbeing contexts; integration of core program body of knowledge.

Course learning outcomes

  • Formulate and explain objectives or deliverables for an industry placement which directly links theory to industry needs.
  • Explore the possibilities for employment in public health and wellbeing industries and develop a job search strategy.
  • Demonstrate, and critically self-assess, professional competencies and ability to interact effectively in a workplace setting.
  • Explain how public health and wellbeing discipline knowledge and practices are applied within the industry placement.
