Course overview

This course will provide students with an opportunity to complete practice education through a professional placement relevant to the exercise and sport science areas. Placement expectations and preparation; completing a learning contract; completing a work experience logbook; practice education placement in organisations that provide exercise and sport science relevant services

Course learning outcomes

  • Apply knowledge and skills of exercise science in delivering client centred services that are within the scope of an accredited exercise scientist.
  • Use effective professional decision making skills and principles of evidence based practice in providing and justifying exercise based service delivery.
  • Use effective verbal and nonverbal communication skills in all situations as appropriate for a graduate level accredited exercise scientist.
  • Appropriately manage risk and safety and practice in accordance with codes of professional and ethical conduct and other policy as appropriate to the context of practice.
  • Demonstrate leadership through a willingness to take responsibility for professional behaviour including engagement in ongoing learning and reflective practice.
