Course overview

In this course, students will develop an applied understanding of the processes and practices of project management, in relation to community development, population health and wellbeing. This includes: project planning, design and management principles and methods; consultation processes; team-based approaches and group work; stakeholder mapping; needs assessment; communication approaches; risk analysis; principles of organisational management and change.

Course learning outcomes

  • Critique project management theories and methods in the health context.
  • Describe the major components required in project design and management, and factors impacting on project success.
  • Design a range of strategies to address project design and management challenges and enhance project outcomes.
  • Justify project management approaches and strategies in health and wellbeing contexts.
  • Design a project relevant for health and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Demonstrate critical self-assessment regarding capacity to interact with other people and work as a team member to achieve a shared goal.
