Course overview
To provide those working in the health and
fitness, paramedical and allied health fields with the necessary background
knowledge and practical skills to work within a broader multi-disciplinary
sports rehabilitation team in an injury prevention and management role.
Course learning outcomes
- Describe the scope of practice of a Sports Trainer and responsibilities for communication with medical and allied health professionals.
- Develop evidence based and outcome driven injury prevention, assessment, management and rehabilitation programs for common injuries and illnesses arising from sport and physical activity.
- Demonstrate application of a sound knowledge of the pathology of injury, illness and healing in the management of both acute and chronic illness and injuries in sport and physical activity.
- Describe how psychological aspects of physical injury influence rehabilitation outcomes including the use of drugs in sport.
