Course overview

This course will extend student knowledge and approaches to visual storytelling in relation to Illustration and Animation industry practice, society and culture, individual skills, abilities, perceptions and experiences. Through studio practice, critical and creative writing students will explore and develop narratives suitable for a variety of industry mediums. Students will develop knowledge of writing, presentation and Illustration and Animation industry practice in developing of bodies of creative work which function as a professional portfolio or 'proof of concept'.

Course learning outcomes

  • To demonstrate knowledge of critical and creative writing for visual storytelling
  • Ability to identify and develop professional visual narratives based on personal perceptions, experiences and critical analysis
  • Demonstrate knowledge of portfolio development and dissemination suitable for professional promotion
  • Demonstrate a professional level of Illustrative and Animation mediums in application to studio project intent
