Course overview

This course will extend and consolidate students' picture making ability using single/sequential pictures, in relation to design business practice and critical research. Students will further develop knowledge of ways to apply research, experimentation, problem solving and solution generation methods to design problems relating to Illustration and Animation professional practice. Individual picture making, design and perspectives will be consolidated with critical understanding of the role and influence of Illustrators/Animators have on society. Design business processes and models will be adapted and applied in relation to studio projects.

  • Apply research to design effective and valid responses to wide ranging communication problems.
  • Identify, analyse and resolve inadequacies or inconsistencies in a range of design briefing situations
  • Demonstrate an advanced ability to communicate with typographic design, single and sequential pictures for a range of communication mediums
  • Demonstrate advanced understanding of picture legibility, communication mediums and picture development for multiple industry application
  • Demonstrate a critical understanding of and articulation issues relating to Illustration, Animation and Design professional practice and the role of designers in society
