Course overview
Students will develop knowledge of storytelling through writing, design and production of character sculpture, prop and scene development in relation to stop motion animation, creative and entertainment industries. This course develops students practice-based knowledge and skills to interpret and apply storytelling principles for a range of industry application. Students will develop skills to construct and document the processes involved in building puppet armature, puppet sculpture, scene props, sets, scene lighting and photography typically used in stop motion animation, theatre, entertainment set design.
Students will critically identify and utilise the techniques, skills and bodies of knowledge required for problem solving within practice and production of set, character and model design.
Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate observational drawing techniques to create coherent drawn forms of the clothed and/or unclothed human figure
- Demonstrate observational drawing of proportion and structure to representationally draw the human figure in a variety of poses
- Demonstrate the use of a range of drawing processes and mediums to generate figure drawings for relevant, discipline specific contexts
- Depict narrative based drawing demonstrating processes relevant for pictures intended as communication
- Develop drawings of the human figure in a range of contexts and environments and relates this to professional practice
