Course overview
The aim of this course is to develop students' practical computer graphics skills and the application of communication design principles and creative solutions in consideration of the audience within commercial print and digital design context. Students will develop knowledge and skills in using industry standard illustration, image editing and page layout software, while developing and applying an understanding of communication design principles and visual strategies to produce effective outcomes for the target audience.
Course learning outcomes
- apply knowledge of communication design principles to a variety of computer graphics and imaging outputs
- demonstrate a working knowledge of the interaction between software programs used in the design industry and competency in file management techniques suitable for print
- demonstrate an expanded visual literacy
- apply a working knowledge of the audience in focussed communication design outcomes
- use an expanded design vocabulary to describe and reflect on the design process and output
